Kenya Istahili Heshima

Kenya Commands Respect.

One of my great grandfathers, from my mother's side, once went to war and was injured. It was long before Kenya was colonized, and for him, Sironoi was his country. The injury was so severe, it required that they cut off his leg. When he had healed and could finally go back home, he shocked many by his choice to exile himself. Lest he defile his home, he told them, "I shall not step on Sironoi with crutches".

Kenya today finds herself in limbo because of a crisis a few people caused and a few people could have doused. She is calling for children that shall not allow her to be destroyed or defiled. Her child, the mountain should not cheat the lake and the valley should not ebb away the mountain. The plain should not bend the river and though the river cannot quench the thirst of the sea, the sea should not exploit the hinterland.

If I met with him today, I will tell my great grandpa it is not wrong to be injured; and though it was probably wrong to have gone to war, I shall always aspire for his love for his country, and for me, my Kenya commands my respect.
